Rupali Shah won an INCOSE Junior Award which comes with a $25 and a certificate which will be presented at our March luncheon tentatively March 7th at the Rivers Edge. Rupali’s project “Breaking News” dealt with the development of a breaking severity warning system. Rupali goes to Spring Ridge Middle School. Rupali also won the first place in the Junior Engineering: Electrical and Mechanical category. It is not known if she will continue on to the Prince Georges Area Science Fair March 16-18.

Rupali learned that mechanical systems have requirements that are not apparent when they are first designed. She went through several prototype designs which did not work as expected but finally reached a good robust design. Along the way she learned a lot about the action of a brake pedal.
Awesome presentation and topic that cuold be highly useful to our automobile industry if matured further. The best and the brightest were certainly represented at the St. Mary’s County Science Fair!
I was at the Prince Georges Area Science Fair and Rupali Shah did great! she won several special awards and a first in her category and a Fair Junior Grand awards! I sure hope she continues to experiment and tinker, she will have a rewarding Science and Engineering career ahead of her. She should continue to the reconigtion she deserves.
