Judging Criteria

(2004,2005,2006)

Eligibility: All students competing in the fair are eligible. A first and second place is given in each division.

The Project: The project should involve a method of investigation involving observation and theory about a complex system.  The method chosen should support an approach and a means to enable the realization of successful systems.

Criteria: Any project that investigates an aspect of a complex system that is critical to the complex system being used to develop a useful system would be a good choice for the INCOSE award.  A project using engineering tools, software and/or hardware, would be a better choice than one that did not use tools.  A project in which the competing aspects of a system in investigated such as: weight and strength, cost and schedule, manufacturing and disposal would be a better choice than one that only looked at one aspect in isolation.  A project in which system quantitative and qualitative measures were integrally important to the research would be a better choice than one in which only one type of measure is used.
